Ben Gamache spent just half a season with the Vernon Vipers but his strong hockey resume has landed him an opportunity to play at NCAA Division III school Hobart College beginning this fall.
The native of Longlac, Ont. began his Junior A career in 2009 with the Okotoks Oilers of the AJHL and captained the club beginning in the 2010-11 season. He again wore the 'C' this past year with the Oilers before being sent to Vernon.
With the Vipers, Gamache totalled eight goals and 15 assists in 27 games to go along with 29 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-8, 195-pounder amassed 154 points in 166 career Junior A games.
At Hobart, Gamache will join Merritt Centennials graduate Lino Chimienti who committed to the club earlier this summer.
Hobart College's campus is located in upstate New York in Geneva and is home to just over 2,200 students. The Statesmen compete in the ECAC West conference against the likes of Elmira College, Neumann University, SUNY-Oswego and Manhattanville College
