The Penticton Vees are pleased to announce Kyle Beaulieu has committed to St. Norbert College Green Knights for next season.
Beaulieu, 21, just completed his final season of junior hockey with the Vees. The White Rock, BC native played parts of four seasons in the BCHL, his final two coming in a Vees jersey. The stay-at-home defenseman appeared in 161 career games, scoring four goals and collected 30 points. Beaulieu played in all but two of the Vees 26 playoff games this past season and was a prominent fixture on the blueline.
St. Norbert won their second consecutive national championship in March and the program is considered one of the tops in the NCAA Div. III. The Green Knights are only the third team to win consecutive national championships; and have won three overall in school history.
“In his time with the Vees, Kyle developed into one of the premier shutdown defenseman in the BCHL,” commented Vees Head Coach / GM Fred Harbinson, “He brings a defensive element that is invaluable, especially in the playoffs.
“Kyle is an underrated player and was a major key for our team winning a national championship this season. He’s a quality individual, as his teammates named him the most popular in each of his two seasons in Penticton.”
The Green Nights are based in De Pere, Wisconsin and play out of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association. St. Norbert finished the 2011-2012 season with a 21-5-5 record and captured their thirteenth NCHA regular-season championship and tenth NCHA Peters Cup title.
