With the season coming to a close for several BCHL and NCAA teams, the professional ranks have come calling. Here’s a breakdown of BCHL alums who have signed on, the teams they’ve signed with and their statistics from their last season.
Austin Smith – Dallas Stars, NHL Smith was a fifth-round selection by Dallas in 2008 and played for the Penticton in the 2008-09 season. He played the last four seasons at Colgate University and is a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award. 2011-12 season at Colgate: 39 GP, 36G, 21A, 57Pts, 30 PIMs
Corbin McPherson – New Jersey Devils, NHL McPherson was a third-round pick by New Jersey in 2007 and played for the Cowichan Valley Capitals from 2006 to 2008. He spent the last four seasons at Colgate University. 2011-12 season at Colgate: 39GP, 4G, 6A, 10Pts, 28 PIMs
Daniel Moriarty – Evansville Icemen, CHL Moriarty played for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs in the 2007-08 season and spent the last four seasons at Harvard University. 2011-12 season At Harvard: 32GP, 1G, 4A, 5Pts, 28 PIMs
Ben Woodley – Evansville Icemen, CHL Woodley spent this past season with the Prince George Spruce Kings and has chosen to begin his pro career. 2011-12 season with Prince George: 59GP, 5G, 42A, 47Pts, 125 PIMs
Brad Hunt – Chicago Wolves, AHL Hunt played for the Burnaby Express from 2006 to 2008 and spent the last four seasons at Bemidji State University. Chicago is the top farm club of the Vancouver Canucks. 2011-12 season at Bemidji State: 38GP, 5G, 21A, 26Pts, 8 PIMs
Eric Kroshus – Wheeling Nailers, ECHL Kroshus played for the Penticton Vees in the 2007-08 season and spent the last four seasons at Harvard University. Wheeling is the ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins. 2011-12 season at Harvard: 29GP, 8G, 11A, 19Pts, 16 PIMs
Scott Knowles – Kalamazoo Wings, ECHL Knowles played for the Surrey Eagles from 2006 to 2008. He spent the last four seasons at RIT. 2011-12 season at RIT: 36GP, 3G, 1A, 4Pts, 27 PIMs
Damon Kipp – South Carolina Stingrays, ECHL Kipp played for the Salmon Arm SilverBacks from 2005 to 2008 and spent the last four seasons at the University of New Hampshire. South Carolina is the ECHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals. 2011-12 season at New Hampshire: 35GP, 4G, 10A, 14Pts, 35 PIMs
Andrew Cherniwchan – South Carolina Stingrays, ECHL Cherniwchan played for the Nanaimo Clippers in the 2007-08 season and spent the last four seasons at Northern Michigan University. 2011-12 season at Northern Michigan: 28GP, 10G, 10A, 20Pts, 59 PIMs
