Powell River Kings goaltender Josh Watson has been named the British Columbia Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending October 4th, the league announced Sunday.

Watson backstopped the Kings to four impressive wins in a four-day stretch that began with a home date against the Langley Chiefs on Thursday. The 19-year old then proceeded to allow just a single goal over a three-game road trip that included stops in Alberni Valley, Cowichan Valley and Nanaimo.

The Lititz, Pennsylvania product made a total of 102 saves on 106 shots last week, good for a 1.00 goals against average and a .962 save-percentage. He was named the game's first star twice, first after a 27-save performance against the Bulldogs and again after shutting out the Nanaimo Clippers with 31 saves on Sunday.

Watson now sports a 6-1 record and league-leading marks in goals-against (1.41) abd save percentage (.943). Following their four-win week, Powell River sits atop the Coastal Conference standings with an 8-3-0-1 record and 17 points.

The Kings are now idle until Friday, when they host the Quesnel Millionaires at the Powell River Recreation Complex.
