Quesnel's Halcrow named BCHL Player of the Week
Monday, September 28, 2009 - Submitted by BCHL Media

Quesnel Millionaires netminder Kirby Halcrow has been named the British Columbia Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending September 27th, the league announced Monday.

Halcrow played all but two minutes of Quesnel's three-day, three-game road trip this weekend, picking up a win and two losses. Despite the pair of defeats, the Grand Prairie, Alberta product posted outstanding numbers against top Interior Conference squads.

Halcrow began the week in Vernon, where he stopped 35 of 37 shots in a 2-0 loss to the Vipers. The next night, he allowed just a single goal on 43 shots in a 5-1 victory in Trail. And on Sunday, he turned aside 23 shots in a 2-1 loss in Westside.

Overall, Halcrow made 100 saves on 105 shots over three games, good for a goals-against average of 1.67 and a save-percentage of .952.

The 18-year old was named the first star in Saturday's game against the Smoke Eaters and the second star in Westside on Sunday. It was also announced last week that he has been one of four goaltenders invited to Team Canada West's Evaluation Camp for the 2009 World Junior A Challenge.

The Millionaires return to the ice on Friday when they host the Williams Lake Timberwolves.
