The BCHL leads all of the CJHL with 11 (11 of 28) National Championships.Penticton became the first BC team to win a National Jr. A Championship in 1986 and Vernon is the only BC club to win more than once with six Canadian titles in 1990, 1991, 1996, 1999, 2009 and 2010.(Prince Albert is the only other team that has won four times).Since 1983 the BCHL has not gone more than a single season without representation at the RBC/Centennial Cup.
The 2012 RBC Royal Bank Cup was held in Humboldt, Sask. The record-breaking Penticton Vees survived a tough round-robin portion of the tournament to qualify for the final where they beat the Woodstock Slammers 4-3 on Joey Benik's late power-play goal. It was the third RBC Cup title in four years for the BCHL with the Vernon Vipers winning in 2009 and 2010.
The Royal Bank Cup was first presented in 1996 to the BCHL's Vernon Vipers as they defeated the runner up Melfort Mustangs of the SJHL. Prior to 1996, the winners were awarded the Centennial Cup.
